I remember standing in the wilds of British Columbia, surrounded by nothing but mountains, forest, and sky, when I saw it—a bald eagle soaring effortlessly, cutting through the stillness with its wings wide and proud. Back in my studio, I could still feel that mountain air and see the way the light kissed each feather. I started with a black canvas, because I wanted the eagle to rise out of shadow—just like it did in real life.
