When I first set out to create Bald Eagle – Valiant, I wasn’t just painting a bird—I was capturing a moment that stirred something deep in me.

I remember standing in the wilds of British Columbia, surrounded by nothing but mountains, forest, and sky, when I saw it—a bald eagle soaring effortlessly, cutting through the stillness with its wings wide and proud. It wasn’t just the sight of it… it was the presence. The power. The grace. That single moment took root in my heart and refused to let go.

Back in my studio, I could still feel that mountain air and see the way the light kissed each feather. I started with a black canvas, because I wanted the eagle to rise out of shadow—just like it did in real life. I layered rich earth tones across its wings, working slowly, adding detail until each feather felt alive. The head was the most delicate part—getting the eyes right was everything. I wanted you to feel that same fierce intelligence and quiet dominance I felt when I first locked eyes with it.
