Sonia’s Artistic Process
Sonia’s Artistic Process
Sonia’s creative process is intuitive and deeply personal.
She doesn’t begin with a rigid plan or a finished image in mind. Each piece starts with a feeling—sometimes sparked by a memory, a moment in nature, a story, or an emotion that stays with her.
She works in layers, allowing the painting to evolve naturally. Color, texture, and movement are built gradually, with pauses in between, giving the piece time to reveal what it wants to become. Sonia often steps away and returns later, responding to what the artwork is asking for rather than forcing an outcome.
Texture plays an important role in her work. It adds depth, movement, and a sense of presence, inviting the viewer to experience the painting beyond just the surface. Her use of color is expressive rather than decorative—chosen to evoke mood, energy, and emotional connection.
Sonia knows a painting is finished when it feels complete, not when it looks perfect. That moment comes when the piece holds a quiet balance—when nothing more needs to be added, and nothing feels unresolved.
Every finished artwork carries a story. Not all of it is visible, but it’s felt—and that emotional resonance is what guides her process from beginning to end.
